There is nearly an all new cast for this continuation of the angry green giant’s story, directed by Louis Leterrier.
As the movie opens, Bruce Banner (Ed Norton) is hiding from the US Army in the slums of Rio de Janeiro while working on a cure for his “condition”.
He works in a soft drink factory by day; then by night secretly communicates with the unseen Mr. Blue, who is supposedly helping with the cure. Banner also seeks to keep himself calm by practicing breathing exercises and meditation.
An event in the bottling plant leads General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (William Hurt)to discover Banner in Rio. He sends the ruthless commando, Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth)to capture Banner alive. It's pretty obvious that isn't going to happen, and the Hulk escapes after swatting Blonsky’s team like bugs.
Banner makes his way back to the US in search of Mr. Blue and a cure for his "condition". He can't help but try to connect with his love interest Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), but that leads to the discovery of his return.
Blonsky is determined get his revenge on the Hulk by any means, including being turned in a super soldier by a classified program similar to the one that changed Banner to the Hulk.
This is a great action movie, and is a big improvement over the first Hulk movie (which was a bit disappointing). The violence is a bit intense for young kids and the battle scenes and characters will probably frighten them. The Hulk is a bit more human in this sequel and has more control of his power, due to the influence of his girlfriend Betty (Is this a date movie? Hmmm...maybe.)
For those diehard Hulk fans there are several “easter eggs” to find. There is a cameo by Tony Stark/Ironman (Robert Downey Jr.) to let you know there will be continuation of the Marvel comic book stories. This is good on the big screen, and Hulk fans will want to watch it on DVD over again.
