Sorry, I am not wrong on the BBB charging you, human rights does not charge but the BBB does, they wanted $45.00 from us and that was over 6 years ago.... They charge you for filing papers, it is all to do with the costs and paperwork... unless it has changed since 2003... To give you more of an idea what we went through, the car the guy said he was selling had a different vin number, and was two years older than the one I had bought in a contract/sales form...
I aruged with them, and told them I would go to the BBB and also the Ministry of Transportation, there were several complains on them... But, when I was told I would have to pay, I refused to do so, as I thought that places like the BBB and Consumers rights are there to help, not cause more problems.... Now, those who are going against NetWinner, maybe they did not have to pay because it was a group thing, or maybe the lawyers handling that situtation are paying and when and if a settlement is reached the money they have put out will be paid by all before they recieve their amount...
So, I do know what I am talking about... Lawyers take cases like this all the time and promise so much, then when and if the settlement comes in the lawyers get paid first and whatever is left over will be divided... Also, those who are involved in this case, I hope they do not think they will recieve all owed to them.... they will be very lucky if they walk out with even half owed....
I have been through similar situtations and also helped people with problems in the landlord and tenant act and volunteered working with lawyers who (give their time for free) it is only free till money comes in then they want thier share and that is usually half of your share!!!!
ministry of transportation? you must not be in the usa, hundreds of us have filed complaints with the bbb against netwinner and it did not cost any of us a single penny in 2008
Yes, I am from Canada... maybe that is the difference with the laws and rules... BBB really disappointed me with their fee... as I thought it was free to file a complaint just your time to do so, but like so many others what use to be free they now charge for.... Up here we also have lawyers that will do cases for people for (free) until the money comes in but their fees end up being from 20% to 30% of whatever money you may get!!! And settlements take a long time sometimes 5 years or more...unless you want to settle for nothing and usually it costs more in time and waiting then what you end up with...what with the lawyers and than the government takes it is not much...
I would never use a lawyer to try and get under $1,000 as it just would not be worth it... those who have filed all the power to them but for me I wasted enough time, will just wait till they put something worthwhile on and then I will send for it... I do feel that any company that offers money to their patrons should at least pay up what is owed and then if they have to take points away or change the amount one can make per week so be it but just pay what is already in there and don't lead the new members on.....
